Denise and I spent a few days in Sandown on the Isle of Wight during August 1998. We left the car behind and caught the train down to Portsmouth Harbour, then the catamaran across to Ryde. The Stagecoach-run rail service from Ryde uses former London Transport Underground stock, which feels very strange.

Leaving Sandown for Cowes, this smart Southern Vectis Dennis Dart has distinctive UVG bodywork....

....as does this Wight Bus Dart seen at Yarmouth Bus Station at the other end of the Island!

We found this former Cheltenham and Gloucester MCW Metrorider running free trips between Ryde and the Brickfields theme park

An unusual angle to see this pair of Southern Vectis Iveco/Robin Hood midibuses at Newport Bus Station - from the upper deck of one of their blue coach-seated Volvo Olympians on service 7 around the Island.

This is an older Leyland Olympian coach in fleet livery, also working the round the Island service through Yarmouth. Bodywork is by Northern Counties; all Southern Vectis Olympians from 1989 onwards have been coach seated
